Why is Zithromax
Azithromycin prescribed?
Zithromax Azithromycin is prescribed to treat certain
infections caused by bacteria, such as bronchitis; pneumonia;
sexually transmitted diseases (STD'a); and infections of
the ears, lungs, skin, and throat. Zithromax is in a class
of medications called macrolide antibiotics.
Azithromycin is also used sometimes to treat H. pylori
How should Zithromax Azithromycin be used?
Zithromax Azithromycin comes as a tablet to take
by mouth. It is usually taken for five days with or without
food. Take azithromycin around the same time every day to
help you remember to take it. Follow the directions your
doctor gave you and read the prescription label carefully.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain anything you don't
understand. Take Zithromax exactly as directed; do not take
more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed
by your doctor.
The tablets should be taken with
a full glass of water.
Like all antibiotics be sure to take
azithromycin until you finish the prescription, even if
you start feeling better. Stopping Zithromax too soon may
cause bacteria to become resistant to antibiotics and will
prolong your illness.
Other uses for Zithromax?
Zithromax Azithromycin
may be prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist
for more drug information.
What special precautions should I follow?

and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements,
and herbal products you are currently taking. Make sure
to mention if you are taking any anticoagulants ('blood
thinners') such as warfarin (Coumadin); cyclosporine (Neoral,
Sandimmune); digoxin (Lanoxin); dihydroergotamine (D.H.E.
45, Migranal); ergotamine (Ergomar); or if you are taking
medications that suppress the immune system; nelfinavir
(Viracept); phenytoin (Dilantin); and terfenadine (Seldane).
Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications
(as needed) or monitor you carefully for drug reactions.
* if you take antacids, take them two hours before or four
hours after taking Zithormax.
* tell your doctor if you have or have ever had cystic fibrosis,
human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), irregular heartbeat,
or kidney or liver disease.

or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking
azithromycin, call your doctor.
What special dietary instructions
should I follow?
Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, continue
your normal diet.
What should I do if I forget a dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However,

a double dose to make up for a missed one. Continue to take
Zithromax until it is gone.
